Project: Repetition. Digital Reconstruction of Works by Polish Female Artists of the Early 20th Century is a project developed as part of the KPO for Culture scholarship program. The aim of the program was to provide individualized professional training and foster the development of artistic and digital skills. As a sculptor, I sought to expand my prof iciency in using Blender, a 3D animation and design software, through this scholarship. The result of my learning and work is the digital reconstruction of four artworks by Polish female artists:
- Double-Sickle Ashtray – an iconic Art Deco object designed by Julia Keilowa in 1935.
- Tobacco Kiosk Design – a competition project for a kiosk created by Katarzyna Kobro and Władysław Strzemiński in 1927.
- Glass Coffin Bed – a piece of furniture designed for a functionalist interior by Sara Lipska, a pioneer in using glass in decorative interior design.
- Warsaw Mermaid – a reconstruction of Ludwika Nitschowa’s original concept for the monument, envisioned as a 20-meter-high green glass sculpture standing in the middle of the Vistula River
There are works of art that one thinks about, fantasizes about, and transforms. The implementation of the ProjektuProject: Repetition gave me the opportunity to examine four such works. I was able to explore the artists' creations in greater depth and remain impressed by their work for some time. The reconstructions created as part of this project were based on designs, photographs, and, in one case, a single evocative statement from the author was enough to inspire me to create a virtual model.
